My friend Rhys AKA Mary Scary, a local drag performance artist, commissioned me to make these rainbow earrings incorporating the full pride flag colours 🌈🌈🌈 As a rabid Rupaul's Drag Race fan, making a custom piece of jewellery for a drag performer makes me feel like I'm living a dream. It's surreal! With regulations lifting a little, Pride Night is also back on! Thursday nights at @romeo_and_juliet_za starting this Thursday with Mary Scary and Milly Pop. So it's the perfect time to reintroduce these lovely wine totes 🥂 Available in natural cotton cord or T-Shirt yarn, they are the perfect size to fit your favourite red, some bubbles or even your bottle of gin. They also make fantastic gifts. Fully stocked at @sunshinecollectiveza or on my website (link in bio). I am starting to see some direct copies of this design being sold by another maker. Although I obviously didn't invent macramé wine totes, I'm very proud of this particular design and the months of research and product development that went into it and especially to make sure it was something unique I could offer my customers. I designed this product in late 2018 and launched it in April 2019 and have been making various versions of it since. I encourage everyone who buys from small handmade businesses to dig a little deeper to get to know the person behind the brand. I love making pieces like this because it encompas I love making pieces like this because it encompasses a lot of how this little small handmade business came together. Each part is either recycled or reused in some form or another. The wooden plate and ring are both thrifted and the T-Shirt yarn is recycled material leftovers from clothing manufacturing.
